Reflect, don't rationalise
Friend
I've made a start on neo-tech power… read the first few advantages..
I'm taking your advice to just read and not question too much… let it all seap in and integrate
Nathan
reflect, don't rationalise
Friend
21:49
yes sir
21:53
I still have problems with rationalising..
21:53
did you say I basically have to concentrate on possibilities rather than absolute answers/ideas to problems or something like that?
Nathan
21:54
yes
21:54
'mu'
21:55
the chinese position of 'i dont know, i have no opinion'
21:55
what i say to myself is 'hmmm interesting'
Friend
21:55
ah yes… the agnostic counter-balance…
Nathan
21:55
and the mental exercise is to ask the question 'where does this fit, where does it not fit'
Friend
21:55
aha
Nathan
21:56
so you look at several conclusions
21:56
without accepting any of them
21:56
never finding only one conclusion
Friend
21:57
okay that makes sense…
Nathan
21:57
if your mind lands on one conclusions, ask the question 'where is that not true, or what other possibility is there?'
21:57
develop wonder, curiosity, and flexibility, by asking lots of open questions
21:57
and basking in the glory of how interesting everything is
Friend
21:58
and this of course reduces apparent stress and worry in how overwhelming the world can be..?
Nathan
21:59
seems so from one way of looking at things
Friend
21:59
this must relate to be a *quiet* neo-tech person.. calm and composed at practically all times
Nathan
22:00
a story was once told of a great sword warrior that went undefeated.
22:00
then he turned to meditation rather than practice.
22:01
someone decided to challenge him on the basis that the master was out of practice.
22:01
but on attempting to strike, the master swifly manouvered sending the person hurtling to the ground.
22:02
the masters equanimity (steadiness, calmness, and composure), along with his flexible open mind, coupled with his previously attained degree of discipline, thought, and control, allowed him to keep his mind sharp.
22:02
whilst calm
Friend
22:03
ah yes.. I read about that in the first few pages.. equanimity - I like this word..
22:04
anyway.. I'm gonna read some more advantages now.

Hi Nathan
May I offer another question to ask yourself when you find yourself "assuming" facts and "rationalizing" away your sense perceptions and intuitive knowledge? Sometimes this question I ask myself sends me on an excavation that reveals much of the memes "planted" in my brain. The question is……Where did I learn/assume this fact and why? Many times I've discovered that it was simply reality twisted into sheeple doctrine! LOL!
