The Fourth Turning | Cycles Of History And The Coming Clean-Sweep
I've just read a great interview with one of the authors of The Fourth Turning.
Suffice it to say I'm impressed by the sweeping implications suggested by the interview, and wanted to capture some quick thoughts here on success-matrix blog.
Coming into the 4th Turning, as we are now, The Millenials will have great influence on social politico and economic affairs for the next 20 years.
They essentially seek a new form of social capitalism. They are pro-markets. They are pro globalism. But only provided those globalised free markets facilitate solidarity and community.
They are more collectivist than individualist. They are more family oriented than independent.
How can we align with their influence, yet maintain individual rights and the advances of a free society that we want? How can a rugged individualist like myself accept and align with the mass coming trends of community and bigger government, yet to help organize the world for the freedom that I seek?
Somewhere within the concoction of 'capitalistic solidarity' may lie my… our… answer.
