Henry David Thoreau said:
Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves.
When people blindly or disagreebly but none-the-less obediently follow 'higher authorities' or 'leaders' or 'masters', they lose their liberty.
To grow liberty, we must pursue independence of thought and action.
